Brow Cosmetic Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Straight after the procedure following reactions might occur - these will go away within a few hours:

  • Tingling

  • Tenderness

  • Swelling

  • Redness

  • Flaking

  • Itchiness

  • White layer around treated area (from numbing cream)

The reason for this is that your skin is already beginning the healing process. These symptoms can last up to 72 hours and can be easily relieved with over the counter pain relief.

It is normal for your eyebrows to appear very dark after the procedure. They will fade 30-50% in the first 1-3 weeks following.

For the best results make sure you follow the aftercare instructions

The way how your new brows will heal depends a lot on how you take care of them during the healing process. Of course skin type, lifestyle, medication, hormones, skin care products also play a big role in this.

DAY 1

  • Straight after the procedure gently blot your brows every 1 hour for the next 6 hours with damp cotton pads (provided by your technician), to absorb excess lymph fluid.

  • Your brows will look darker, warmer and bigger.

DAY 2-14

  • Clean and Cream: Apply cream 2x a day for at least 14 days.

  • Before applying cream (provided by your PMU Artist) gently dab your brows with damp cotton pads (use lukewarm water), to clean the oils and dust from the area.

  • Wash your hands first! Take a teardrop size amount of cream with your finger, put it on the top of your hand first and then from there take the cream and apply on your brows.

  • Less is better than more, do not over saturate your eyebrows with cream, this will suffocate your skin and delay healing! If brows are too shiny from cream you've added too much, dap the excess off gently with a clean paper tissue.

  • Between day 6-14 you might have some peeling, crusting, scabbing or flaking- that is normal. You have to be patient and let any scabbing and dry skin exfoliate away naturally.

DAY 15-40

  • When all the scabbing has finished, your brows will go lighter than you might have expected. Means that the epidermis of your skin has healed, however the dermis of your skin is still healing. True colour comes out usually 3-4 weeks after your original procedure.

  • When your brows have healed they can appear 30%-50% lighter.

A follow up procedure is recommended 5-8 weeks after your first appointment. In the follow up procedure we take into account how your skin has retained the color and do the necessary adjustments. We even up all the differences, use warmer or cooler tones if needed, or go bigger and darker. Touch Up session is where all the magic happens. People heal differently, some are good with one procedure when others may need up to 2 follow up sessions.

Doesn't matter how many times you get your brows done (or any other area tattooed) they will never stay as crisp and bright as on the day of tattooing. There will always be a healing process and the color goes underneath the skin.

You can help to prevent the color loss following the short and long term aftercare instructions:

  • Avoid for the next 2 weeks: sauna, SPA’s, face-down swimming, lakes etc.

  • Avoid long hot steamy showers for the next 10 days.

  • Avoid the next 30 days of tan beds and sunbathing.

  • Do not make your tattooed area wet for at least next 7 days, avoid direct water spray while having a shower. Dap excess water off with dry clean tissue if necessary.

  • For the quality of healing it is recommended to cut down products containing tobacco and alcohol at least next 48h.

  • Avoid cosmetic treatments like chemical peeling, botox, IPL, microdermabrasion etc for at least 4 weeks.

  • Do not use makeup on the tattooed area until completely healed. Infection might occur.

  • Do not sleep on your sides or stomach for at least the first 10 days, the tattooed area must not rub against the pillow. Use a clean pillow case.

  • Do not scratch, pull, pick any scabs off, might cause pigment loss, infection or scarring. Let them heal naturally.

  • Avoid Retinols/Retina A ( A vitamin), C vitamin, Hyaluronic acid or any other acidic gels on tattooed areas. Also using oily or poor quality makeup products can make your tattoo more dull over time.

  • Pin back your fringe. Hair can be dirty, make sure your fringe won't be touching your brows.

  • Do not tint/henna your brows at least 3 weeks after your cosmetic procedure. Do not use eyebrow tint or henna more than twice in a month (if needed) on tattooed areas. Oxidant in the color mix can affect the tattoo color.

  • Once your brows are healed use sunblock to avoid color fading.

  • Rinse your brows with fresh water after being contacted with pool/chlorine or salt water.
