Eyeliner Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

Congratulations on your new eyeliner tattoo! Here are the eyeliner aftercare instructions to follow during the healing time

Your eyeliner color is approximately 30% darker than it will be when it’s healed. It will also appear slightly larger than it will heal in just a few days.

Your eyeliner will form a scab and starts flaking with in few days, make sure you won't scratch, rub or pull the flakes off, let it heal naturally. As the flakes come off, your eyeliner will seem lighter than you've expected, it's because your skin is still in a restoring process. Over the next few weeks the colour will come back again.

It usually takes around 7-14 days for the scabs to come off and around 30-40 days for the skin to restore.

Make sure you follow these aftercare instructions carefully during the healing period:

  • With freshly washed hands, you may gently cleanse the eye area with tepid water, however do not soak the tattoo. Avoid harsh cleansers, soap and washcloths.

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry (use a clean towel or tissue to dry it), avoid environments that would cause dirt or germs to contact the area while healing.

  • If you should experience swelling, an ice pack may be applied using a thin protective barrier such as a paper towel or zip lock bag. Icing is most effective in the first 24 hours following the procedure. Sleeping with your head slightly elevated can also reduce any residual swelling.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face, use a clean pillowcase.

  • Do not wear contact lenses at least 24 hours.

  • Avoid saunas, spas and swimming pools during the healing time.

  • Do not apply makeup or mascara on or near the tattooed area for 7-14 days, until the outer healing is complete.

  • Do not dye, curl, perm or get lash lift/eyelash extensions at least 14 days after your procedure.

  • Do not pick, rub or peel off your scabs, to avoid bald spots, scars, or infection ( some itching is normal as skin is repairing itself)

  • Do not expose the treated area to sun or tanning bed (3-4 weeks after procedure)

  • Avoid using eyelashes serums or growth stimulation at least for weeks after your appointment (and before your touch up appointment).

Most customers need a touch-up after about 5-12 weeks to assure that the desired effect was achieved. Micropigmentation is a process, two or three sessions may be required to achieve desired results. It is not uncommon to lose 20-50% of the color after the first session.
